Milan to Welcome Back Foursome in Return Leg vs Inter
Milan will be in almost full force as they try to stage a difficult two-goal comeback in the second act of the EuroDerby. Rafael Leao, Rade Krunic, Junior Messias, and Alessandro Florenzi, who missed time with various ailments lately, trained fully on the eve of the game, SportMediaset informs.
At least a pair will start. The Portuguese star sat out the last two matches because of an adductor pull. The Bosnian midfielder will likely partner Sandro Tonali in the midfield. He didn’t play against Spezia due to bursitis in his knee.
Messias, who dealt with muscle fatigue over the weekend, is in contention with Alexis Saelemaekers to man the right wing. He’s also the fallback in case the Milan coaching staff erred on the side of caution with Leao and brought him off the bench.
After being on the shelf for three contests because of a muscular injury, Florenzi will be back on the squad. He’ll be a substitute option, as usual. Stefano Pioli is mulling one change compared to last week. Malick Thiaw, who didn’t feature domestically due to a suspension, could replace Simon Kjaer next to Fikayo Tomori in the middle of the defense. Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez will play on the defensive flanks. The only absentee is Ismael Bennacer, who will be out for months with a knee cartilage lesion.
Milan held a mandatory retreat Monday night. A thousand fans voiced their support outside the training center Sunday. Inter are likely to confirm the same XI of the first leg after rotating heavily in the Sassuolo contest.
