Milan must find another gear if they are to beat Inter after Roma disappointment
AC Milan will have to find another gear compared to the performance seen against Roma if they are to win the Euroderby against Inter.
MilanNews write how Milan played a largely subdued game in Rome as they were too slow on the ball and the players did not appear up to their usual athletic standards, while the game itself was very stop-start due to the many fouls and injuries.
That performance from the Rossoneri against the Giallorossi – if repeated over two legs in semi-finals of the Champions League against Inter – would surely not be good enough to see the team reach the final.
Milan simply have to demonstrate a different mental and technical attitude, though of course we must remember the Champions League has absolutely nothing to do with the league as the games against Napoli showed.
The differences have also been witnessed this season. The Diavolo had a great first leg against Tottenham and then were terrible against Fiorentina and Udinese, but they did enough in the second leg in London.
Milan drew with Empoli and Bologna but then beat Napoli in back to back games – scoring five and conceding zero – before booking a spot in the final four of the Champions League.
When that anthem comes on before kick-off the game is another story, and the derby is a story in itself with other motivations, ambitions, status, prestige and dreams attached. However, to boost the chances of a trip to Turkey next month, the level must be raised.
