Meet the Aston Villa-mad England star who had the Champions League anthem as his ringtone

September 7, 2024

Warwickshire all rounder Dan Mousley has just been selected to play for England – and in doing so he’ll carry the Aston Villa baton into the dressing room

When Dan Mousley finds himself in Pakistan, or in the UAE, kicking his heels between matches and cricket training, he’ll often find football to be his go to. He’ll watch any match, the football fanatic that he is, but he sets aside time specifically for Aston Villa.

Mousley, who is an all-rounder for Warwickshire, is 23 and has spent the best part of 15 years at Edgbaston. Such have been his individual performances in the last couple of years, that only recently he – along with friend and Bears teammate Jacob Bethell – was informed he’d been called up to England’s T20I squad to face Australia as the Lions’ summer concludes. In doing so, Mousley will follow the likes of Ian Bell and Chris Woakes in carrying the Villa baton into the England cricket environment.
