Marotta & Ausilio’s Plan To Deliver Simone Inzaghi An Inter Milan Squad Capable Of Competing For Serie A Title Revealed
Inter Milan’s club directors are aiming to have a Serie A title-contending squad available to Simone Inzaghi come the start of next season.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who detail the Nerazzurri directros’ plan to do so with a few more signings over the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window.
Inter have done some whirlwind transfer business in the course of the past few days.
They have reportedly wrapped up a deal for Sasuolo and Italy midfielder Davide Frattesi.
Meanwhile, the contracts of Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni have been extended.
Inter have also completed the signing of Marcus Thuram, and will soon also sign young defender Yann Bisseck.
It looks as though Romelu Lukaku will be the next domino to fall. The Nerazzurri will push to sign the Belgian back from Chelsea, as they see him as a vital player in their thrust for the Serie A title next season.
On the other hand, negotiations with Man United are heating up for a sale of Andre Onana.
A sale of the Cameroonian would represent a substantial loss for Inter on the pitch. But on the other hand, it would bring in the funds necessary to wrap up the other incoming transfer business.
Inter Milan’s Plan To Give Inzaghi Serie A Title Squad
First off there would be the matter of replacing Onana in the team.
Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin, Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi, and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili are all on Inter’s radar to take Onana’s place. Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer would represent a more experienced profile.
Reportedly, Inter could sign Sommer or Keylor Navas in addition to a younger keeper like Trubin. This would be contingent on captain Samir Handanovic leaving.
Then, there’s the question of signing a new wingback to deputize for Denzel Dumfries on the right after the departure of Raoul Bellanova. Torino’s Wilfried Singo is currrently the favourite in this respect.
At least one more defender must come in to replace Milan Skriniar. Atalanta’s Merih Demiral and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah look to be the two main candidates.
Lastly, there’s the question of making another midfield signing to join Frattesi. This would be to replace Roberto Gagliardini, and given that Gagliardini left on a free transfer should be a low-cost piece of business.
