Marcus Thuram: ‘It’s A Dream To Represent Same Shirt As Ronaldo, Hope To Score Goals & Win Trophies With Inter Milan’

July 1, 2023

New Nerazzurri striker Marcus Thuram is proud to have officially become an Inter Milan player.

Speaking to the club’s official site, the 25-year-old gave his first interview since joining, expressing his pride at representing the same shirt as Brazilian legend Ronaldo and outlining his ambition to have a successful career and score plenty of goals for Inter.

It’s now official – Marcus Thuram is an Inter player.

The French international has joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer after his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expired. He will represent the club starting from next season.

From the player’s perspective, it is the most important of steps in his career.

Thuram is happy with what making the switch to Inter represents. He is particularly keen on the fact that he can follow in the footsteps of one of his great heroes, legendary former Nerazzurri, PSV, Barcelona, and Real Madrid striker Ronaldo.

“I’m really happy to be here,” Thuram said. “Today is a great day.”

“I used to watch Serie A when I was little, and I saw lots of world-class players. Coming to Serie A is like coming home for me.”

Of following in the footsteps of his father, legendary former Parma and Juventus defender Lilian, Thuram said that “The Italian league has changed a lot since my dad played here.”

“But he gave me a lot of advice, as a father,” the Frenchman continued. “He told me to play with joy, take advantage of the moment, and enjoy every minute of it, because my dream has come true.”

“I hope that I can score a lot of goals in this shirt, and win many trophies,” Thuram said.

Of what it means to play for Inter considering Ronaldo was one of his childhood heroes, Thuram said that “It’s a dream to wear the same shirt as him, and to play in the same stadium.”

“I can’t imagine how incredible it will feel to be in the stadium with all the fans there.”
