Manchester United update on Jarrad Branthwaite transfer shared as Everton financial pressure eased

July 22, 2024

Manchester United are ready to accept defeat in their pursuit of Everton star Jarrad branthwaite.

The newspaper reported via their website on 21 July that despite their consistent interest over the summer, the Red Devils are preparing to give up the chase.

This comes after the Toffees have stayed strong in terms of their valuation of the defender and look unlikely to budge from their £75million pricetag.

The report also added that the the club’s financial pressures have been eased after a deal worth £50m plus add-ons was agreed with Aston Villa for the sale of Amadou Onana.

Everton keeping Jarrad Branthwaite is a masterstroke
Branthwaite is one of Everton’s best players and has been since the start of the 2023/24 season.

The defender had a breakthrough campaign at Goodison Park last term and has managed to cement himself as one of Dyche’s strongest players.

He and James Tarkowski formed a solid partnership last term and look set to carry that on going into the 2024/25 season.

It was thought that Everton would need a large sale this summer in order to ensure that the club abides by the Premier League’s PSR rules next season rather than suffering another points deduction.

Granted, the Toffees have likely lost Onana after accepting a £50m bid for the midfielder but it feels like they’d have much rather lost him than Branthwaite.

All in all, the fact that the defender now looks set to stay at Goodison Park could be key to Dyche improving his team’s standings next term.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are set to face new competition for transfer target, Arthur Melo.
