Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is set to be rewarded with an improved contract in the summer

February 3, 2024

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is in line for an improved contract in the summer as a reward for the wonderful campaign he is currently having, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old only returned to full fitness last November having picked up an injury in pre-season and has already become one of the best players in the Premier League this term.

Mainoo scored his first-ever league goal in style on Thursday, grabbing a late winner in the 4-3 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers as his breakthrough campaign continued.

The Man United academy graduate scored his first goal for the club in the FA Cup at Newport County last Sunday and is slowly becoming undroppable in the starting XI of manager Erik ten Hag.

Mainoo signed his first professional contract shortly after his 17th birthday in May 2022, signing a new deal a year ago, and while another extension is not on the cards, the Red Devils want to offer him improved terms at the end of the season.

The England youth international has impressed the staff and his teammates with his composure and maturity beyond his years, and his adaptation to senior football has been seamless.

Mainoo has featured in 12 games across all competitions so far but has already done enough to convince Man United that he deserves fresh terms.
