Manchester United injury update: Mason Mount, Patrick Dorgu, Matthijs de Ligt latest news and return dates

February 9, 2026

Michael Carrick will hope to welcome Mason Mount back into the Manchester United first-team in the coming days.

United have been in fine form of late, beating Tottenham 2-0 at the weekend to record a fourth win on the spin.

And he has pulled off that renaissance despite not being able to call upon some key players.

In a cryptic fitness update issued ahead of the Spurs clash, though, he suggested that two of the three could be making their comebacks in the near future.

He will welcome any boost he can get, too, with crunch matches against West Ham and Everton on the horizon as the Red Devils eye a Champions League berth.

With that said, here’s all the latest Manchester United injury news…

Mason Mount
Mason Mount has been in and out of the Man United squad all season, with his latest absence revealed when he was left out of the squad to face Fulham in January.

Carrick revealed ahead of kick-off that he had picked up a minor injury in training and promised a hasty return.

And the former Chelsea midfielder seems to be closing in on a return to action.

Speaking before Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford, he said: “He’s not too far away. We’re hopeful it won’t be too long.”

Mount was not named to the squad to face Tottenham, but will be pushing to return for either Tuesday’s trip to face West Ham or the subsequent meeting with Everton.

Matthijs de Ligt
Matthijs de Ligt’s injury absence is now stretching into its third month.

The Dutchman suffered a lower back injury as United beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in late November, with then-manager Ruben Amorim initially promising a swift comeback.

De Ligt’s bad back has now outlasted Amorim, though, and he is yet to return to training.

Carrick, though, is optimistic that he could soon be back in the fold, delivering a positive update ahead of Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford.

He said this week: “Matta is working his way back, taking good steps, improving and being really positive. Hopefully won’t be too long.”
