Manchester United in talks to sign Jack Butland

January 4, 2023

Manchester United want to sign Jack Butland from Crystal Palace in the January transfer window, according to BBC Sport. The report has claimed that Premier League giants United are in talks with London club Palace over a deal for Butland.

United are looking for a back-up goalkeeper to David de Gea after Martin Dubravka decided to return to Newcastle United. Dubravka joined the Red Devils on loan from the Magpies on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2022, but he struggled for playing time and decided to return to St. James’ Park.

Butland has been on the books of Palace since 2020, but he is a squad player at the Eagles and has made only 10 appearances in the Premier League for them so far. The 29-year-old has yet to play for the London club this season and is out of contract at Selhurst Park at the end of the season.
