Liverpool receives transfer setback as Premier League rival makes announcement

November 10, 2025

Liverpool is already making future plans in the transfer window and wants to add depth at no.10 and in the wide positions, so news that Morgan Rogers has penned fresh terms will come as a blow

Liverpool received a transfer blow on Monday with confirmation from Aston Villa that Morgan Rogers has penned a new deal with the Midlands club.

The England international is a transfer target for the Reds and is on the club’s radar, along with Bournemouth’s Antonie Semenyo. Liverpool did not consider a summer move for Rogers, but could be tempted to approach Villa in future windows, despite his performance levels dropping considerably this campaign.

The 23-year-old was voted PFA Young Player of the Season last season but has managed just one goal and three assists in 16 club appearances this season. However, Villa is fully aware of Rogers’ talent and potential and has rewarded him with a new deal that runs until 2031.

“The most important thing for me is enjoying my football and being able to express myself,” the former Manchester City youngster told Villa’s website. “There’s no reason why I wouldn’t want to stay here.

“The faith from the people at the club is a really nice feeling, and I couldn’t wait to sign. I’m really happy.

“It’s home. Being from the area makes it that bit sweeter, but the manager, the players, the staff, everyone here is so warm and welcoming every day.
