Liverpool are on the verge of making history. The Reds need just one more victory to secure the Premier League title in what would be a 20th English championship.

Arne Slot’s side have swept all before them in just his first campaign as Liverpool manager after he replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer, with the Dutchman seeing his side lose just twice in the Premier League all season.

With second-placed Arsenal 13 points behind, the Reds will clinch the title should the Gunners lose at home to Crystal Place on Wednesday evening or, failing that, with victory at home to Tottenham on Sunday.

But it cannot be overstated just how difficult a task Arne Slot faced when taking over from Jurgen Klopp last summer.

It was tricky enough that he had to lift a team that had fallen away so disappointingly in the final weeks of the title race last season. So to do so while replacing a bona fide Liverpool legend, all while hardly being a household name among Reds supporters, was hardly the ideal foundation for success.
