Likely that Sven Mislintat leaves Borussia Dortmund in the winter

August 15, 2024

Sport Bild reports that it is increasingly likely that Sven Mislintat will not be at Borussia Dortmund for the long haul and a separation in the winter is possible.

It had previously been reported that Mislintat went behind Sebastian Kehl’s back to try and sign players which the former midfielder and director of Sport Lars Ricken did not approve of.

One example is now Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, Mislintat is said to have negotiated with the player over a move to Dortmund bypassing Kehl. While Mislintat also pushed for Dortmund to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon. However, head coach Nuri Sahin had doubts about the player’s character as well as his fit into the team and along with Kehl and Ricken vetoed the transfer.

Milsintat had only been brought in in the summer as a squad planner but has struggled to fit into this role and be subordinate to Kehl and Ricken.

On top of this, the former VfB Stuttgart, Ajax and Arsenal director was increasingly isolated at the club’s training camp in Bad Ragaz during training sessions as well as in the team hotel.
