Lacking “grit” and “determination”, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer lament Champions League defeat to Feyenoord

Bayern Munich was not good…
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has experienced better European nights. As his squad was thrashed by Feyenoord 3-0 in the Champions League, the captain shared his thoughts on where he thinks things went wrong.
“Frustration is obviously the overwhelming feeling at first. Everyone is disappointed. At the end of the day, it wasn’t enough. We maybe didn’t show the right determination at key moments. Whether in attack or defence, Feyenoord simply showed more grit and knew to keep us away from their goal. They did well defensively and in transition, especially on the counter. It obviously hurts,” Neuer said . “If we don’t end up in the top eight, we’ve still got a chance of progressing via the playoffs. But we’re not looking at that yet. We’re focusing on the next game. We need to work on this first, learn from it and draw the right conclusions.
“A reason for today’s defeat could be that we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal and didn’t manage to play our game until the end. We also didn’t apply enough pressure in defence to really cause Feyenoord problems. We crossed too early in the second half, which made it easy for the opposition to defend. The positive thing is that we have another chance to make up for things in three days. We want to win in Freiburg.”
