La Liga prepone Real Madrid’s final match vs Real Betis to accommodate Taylor Swift concert at the Bernabeu

February 29, 2024

The Santiago Bernabeu is among the most iconic football stadiums in the world, but concurrently, a historically special institution in Spain.

The renowned venue has hosted innumerable iconic clashes over the years, and its renovation has only elevated its status as one of the best stadiums on the planet.

It thus does not come as a surprise that the Bernabeu, now fully renovated, is rapidly gaining traction as a place for top artists and exhibition matches to take place.

If the NFL game scheduled at the venue was not enough, the Real Madrid Stadium is also set to host a Taylor Swift concert later this year.

Formal request

The American singer is scheduled to perform in Madrid on the 29th and 30th of May 2024. The one obstacle, however, was that Los Blancos had their last La Liga game of the season against Real Betis scheduled that same week.

The Merengues thus officially requested a change of date so that both events could take place without affecting the other.

The Athletic report that La Liga have now agreed to the proposal, changing the date of Real Madrid’s game.

Los Blancos will now play Los Verdiblancos on May 25th at home, while the concerts will be held on the 29th and 30th as planned.

The NFL game

Real Madrid are certainly looking to extract the most from the world-class stadium they have built in the heart of Madrid. In addition to the Taylor Swift concert, the Bernabeu is also set to host an NFL match as confirmed earlier this year.

The NFL will arrive in Spain for the first time in 2025 and will play an exhibition match at the Bernabeu with the objective of improving the league’s popularity in the country.

The Civitas Metropolitano gave tough competition in the bid to secure rights, but in the end, the Nuevo Santiago Bernabeu came out on top.
