Kylian Mbappe hands blow to Real Madrid transfer hopes
The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid rumours just refuse to go away. And a new wave of them have hit recently. The Frenchman recently extended his contract with PSG but it was not a long one. In fact, it is only for two years, with the player having the option to extend it for another year. As a result, the long-term future of the World Cup winner is still pretty much up in the air.
Real Madrid have been linked with a potential move for Mbappe for years now. While it has not materialised till now, it is worth remembering that he is still just 24 years of age.
The manner in which the transfer saga turned out last year left a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans. But as the season has progressed and Mbappe has continued to perform at a world-class level, most now seem open to the idea of pursuing a move for the Frenchman once again.
Some of Mbappe’s recent comments might pour cold water on those hopes though. It looks like he is not thinking about leaving PSG at the moment, no matter what happens in the Champions League this season.
Mbappe hands blow to Real Madrid transfer hopes with recent comments
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the French superstar told the media:
“It’s a privilege to play here. I’m from Paris and being at PSG is special. I arrived very young and I have grown and matured, on and off the field.”
Mbappe further went on to add:
“If it depended on what happens in the Champions League, and I don’t want to disrespect anyone, I would have already left. I’m here and very happy, at the moment I don’t think about anything other than making PSG happy.”
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Mbappe at PSG. It does feel like at some point, he will make a move and try a different experience.
It is also worth pointing out that if Mbappe does not take up the option to extend his contract, then there will only be 12 months left on his deal. In that scenario, it is very possible that PSG could consider a transfer exit rather than letting him leave as a free agent a year later.
