Kieran Maguire: Man City will agree new £68m deal despite new restrictions

February 24, 2024

Man City will continue their partnership with Etihad and Abu Dhabi companies despite the Premier League’s new regulations.

That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that City can justify the value of commercial deals as they are ‘serial winners’.

Premier League clubs narrowly voted to introduce tougher restrictions on commercial and sponsorship deals with parties associated with a club’s ownership group.

Maguire previously told Football Insider that City will pursue legal counsel against the Premier League following the conclusion of the vote.

City’s deals with Abu Dhabi have come under scrutiny due to their shared links with club ownership – including the £68million per season deal with Etihad.

Etihad struck a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with the club as well as stadium naming rights.
