Juventus boss Max Allegri reacts to Romelu Lukaku-Dusan Vlahovic swap proposal

August 2, 2023

Juventus manager Max Allegri is calm about the possibility of a Dusan Vlahovic-Romelu Lukaku swap deal with Chelsea, saying he is happy with his squad but will adapt to any changes.

Lukaku wants to leave Chelsea and Juventus are interested in bringing him to Turin, proposing a player-plus-cash deal.

The Italian giants have offered Vlahovic to the Blues, but want Lukaku and around €40m (£34.4m) in return for the Serbian striker, according to The Guardian.

Chelsea are believed to be weighing up the offer, having already passed up on the chance to sign Vlahovic earlier in the transfer window, while also having other targets, notably Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

From Allegri’s point of view, he sounds relaxed either way, happy to continue working with Vlahovic, but open to changes in the days and weeks to come.

‘I’m happy with players we have but impossible-to-refuse bids will be evaluated due to the financial situation,’ said the Italian.

‘I will adapt to the club’s choice, as always.’

Vlahovic, 23, was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal before he moved to Juve in January last year after an impressive 18 months with Fiorentina.

He has not really lived up to the hype at Juventus, but neither has he been a complete flop, scoring 23 goals in 63 appearances for the club so far.

Lukaku was very keen to return to Inter Milan on another loan or permanent deal but that switch is now off the table as the Champions League finalists cannot afford it.

The Belgian has been offered the chance to move to Saudi Arabia but wants to stay in Europe, just not at Stamford Bridge.
