Jurgen Klopp to leave Liverpool? Chaotic Chelsea to fail again as Newcastle reclaim Champions League spot

August 11, 2023

Newcastle United’s chances of resecuring Champions League football during the 2023-24 campaign will be boosted by Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool and Chelsea continuing on a path of chaos.

That’s the view of The Everything is Black and White Podcast host Andrew Musgrove as he delivered his season predictions for the new Premier League season.

Speaking on The Season Preview episode, Musgrove shared his thoughts that Newcastle have a ‘genuine’ chance of finishing third, aided by what he feels will be chaotic campaigns for other teams around The Magpies.

Within his predictions, he revealed his thoughts that Klopp could lose his job. “Liverpool, it’s an interesting one,” he said. “Bold prediction? Klopp will not be Liverpool manager next season.

“I think the rot has set in and I don’t think he’ll actually see out the season. He may do as a kind of farewell like Cloughy did at Forest.

“I’m not saying Liverpool are getting relegated, of course, but I can see the season ending badly for him. I don’t know if they’ve bought all that well.

“Mac Allister from Brighton is a great player but they are on a rebuilding job, and yes they haven’t got Champions League, so that will aid them but it’s a big task to rebuild, a bit like Chelsea. For me, I think they’ll be fifth.”

Musgrove was sitting alongside Newcastle United Editor Aaron Stokes and special guest Pete Davey from Toon YouTube channel Loaded Mag NUFC, and the trio all agreed that Manchester City would reclaim the Premier League title. Davey feels Eddie Howe’s side will finish four while Stokes and Musgrove agreed on third.

Explaining more about his prediction, with United finishing behind City and Arsenal and ahead of Man United, Musgrove added: “What’s really interesting is that the national pundits have all sort of written Newcastle United off – they’re not going to finish in the top four but when you look around at the teams who are going to apparently bounce back, look at Chelsea, they just still look like a chaotic club.

“I can’t see them getting anywhere near the top four – it certainly won’t be a straight walk like some are predicting. Tottenham, I wish the manager very well because I like an underdog story but they’re not going to get top four, surely.

“Arsenal will finish second, and Newcastle genuinely have an opportunity to finish third. I’m not worried about Manchester United. I think Newcastle and Man United are kind of level although Newcastle have probably bought better than them this summer.”

Musgrove tipped Brentford or Aston Villa to claim sixth spot as well as Newcastle United reaching a domestic cup final yet again.
