John Lundstram now set to play for Rangers future as ‘decent transfer fee’ mooted for Ibrox exit

Jon Lundstram’s future at Rangers has come under the spotlight – and the 29-year-old could now be playing for a new deal in Govan.
The former Sheffield United man has been a mainstay of the Gers’ squad over the past two years and will be fondly remembered for his strike against RB Leipzig in the 2021/22 Europa League semi-final.
However, on Friday 31 March, a report emerged suggesting Lundstram’s days as a Rangers player could well be numbered.
Rangers Review journalist, Derek Clark, has claimed the Light Blues could recoup a “decent transfer fee” and that the 29-year-old is one of the high-earners at Ibrox.
With his deal up in 2024, this summer could well be the last chance for Ross Wilson to sell the midfielder. If he remains for the start of the 2023/24 campaign, there’s a chance he will leave for nothing at the end of next season.
For Lundstram, he could well now be playing for his future. He knows he has to perform at an extremely high level to convince the club hierarchy that he is worthy of a new deal.
If he excels between now and the end of the season, he could force Michael Beale and Wilson’s hand. The Rangers boss clearly trusts the former Oxford United man. He’s featured regularly under the former QPR boss and could easily be an important player moving forward.
The decision will ultimately depend on how Beale wants to overhaul his squad. If he feels moving on a high-earner would benefit his transfer plans, then it’s a move we can certainly envisage.
Yet another player to keep an eye on heading into what promises to be an intriguing off-season.
