Joan Laporta intends to retain Xavi as the head coach for his entire term

April 12, 2023

While not everything has gone according to plan, Xavi still has been able to stabilize the FC Barcelona team to a large extent. His work on the team can be clearly seen as La Blaugrana are in the pole position to win La Liga this season, and the club is looking to renew the coach for some more time.

SPORT reports that Xavi’s entourage has already held meetings with the FC Barcelona hierarchy to address his renewal. The relationship between the two parties is positive, and an agreement is almost certain to be reached. With this renewal, Xavi will be coaching FC Barcelona for two more years, in addition to the next year which he already has on his current contract.

The report further explains that Joan Laporta is particularly keen to get Xavi renewed for another two seasons, and had already communicated to the press a few weeks ago that he intends to renew Xavi as soon as possible. He believes Xavi to be the best man possible on the Barcelona bench, both in the long and the short term and Laporta’s intention is to retain Xavi as the head coach for his entire term.

There are a number of factors that make Xavi the best-suited man for the job at Barcelona. For starters, he spent almost his entire playing career playing at FC Barcelona and thus knows the club and its culture inside out. He is also expected to adapt to the difficult economic situation that the Catalan club is finding itself in, and to be able to work with the resources he has available at hand.

He has already won the Spanish Supercup with Barcelona, and with the league title almost assured, the club believes he will be able to turn this team into one of the serial winners. Thus, both parties are in agreement about the status quo, and Barcelona expect to complete Xavi’s renewal by the end of the season.
