Joan Laporta chasing a new record ahead of the presidential inauguration at Barcelona

June 28, 2026

Joan Laporta is set to be inaugurated once again as Barcelona president, having won the election by a sweeping margin over Victor Font earlier in the year.

Ahead of his inauguration, Laporta will have a historic record firmly within his sights, as he looks to lead Barcelona to an era of glory.

Barcelona have won 162 titles across all their professional sections during Laporta’s two spells in charge.

That figure leaves Laporta on the verge of becoming the most successful president in Barcelona’s entire history.

The current record belongs to Josep Lluis Nunez, the club’s longest-serving president, who won 179 titles across his 22 years at the helm.

With nearly twelve years as president already and five more ahead of him following his re-election, Laporta now sits just 17 titles away from surpassing that landmark.

Of the 162 titles won under Laporta, 70 came during his first spell between 2003 and 2010, with the remaining 92 arriving in his second term, which began in 2021.

Handball has been the most successful section across his tenures with 49 titles, followed by roller hockey with 39. Men’s football (23) and women’s football (22) have contributed almost equally while basketball (15) and futsal (14) complete the picture.
