Jamal Musiala dismisses added pressure following lucrative contract extension with Bayern Munich

February 18, 2025

Now one of the highest earners at Bayern Munich, expectations from the outside will increase.

Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala recently extended his contract at the club until 2030, penning a lucrative extension that reportedly sees him to become joint-highest earner at the club with star striker Harry Kane. That is a lot of trust to put in a 21-year-old and a lot of pressure to put on his shoulders. But Musiala himself sees little difference in the pressure on him. His harshest critic, after all, has always been himself.

“I’ve always been very self-critical since I was very young. I’m always looking at what I can do better. So I know the pressure and I put it on myself,” Musiala explained, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “What I’m learning now is that I don’t read comments on social media, I don’t look at social media. You don’t need to. I work hard to improve in other areas – and I have to push myself to get better. I don’t need social media for that.”

Well said. Now he needs to back those words up on the pitch. And what better time to do so than to help Bayern move past the Scottish champions in Europe’s premier competition?
