Irons had talks with Moyes replacements
West Ham United held talks with former PSG boss Christophe Galtier before eventually deciding to stick with David Moyes, according to a report in 90min.
Moyes found himself under considerable pressure at certain points during our 2022/23 Premier League season but clung on to his job after a memorable Conference League triumph.
Now it appears that talks were held with representatives of Marco Silva and Paulo Fonseca over succeeding Moyes at the London Stadium. Galtier was also sounded out – and it’s believed he was willing to move to England.
It was certainly a big call to stick by Moyes. Let us hope it will not come back and haunt us.
It’s a decision that the board probably had to take. With one year left on his contract, there is a way out for the board if things don’t go to plan next season. However, it will feel like a campaign wasted from the Hammers’ perspective, if we have a repeat of our last one .
With a new director of football on the cards. There’s an opportunity for a new structure to be implemented at West Ham. It will be interesting to see Mark Noble getting more involved in the strategy and decision-making at the club
Nevertheless, we do need new ideas to arrive at the club in order for the Hammer to progress on the pitch.
With Declan Rice also set to depart, there’s an opportunity for significant investment to occur. With Manchester City and Arsenal both vying for Rice, there’s a strong chance David Sullivan will land the £100million-plus he wants.
But then it is a question of spending that windfall wisely and the Hammers have made it clear they won’t be rushed.
