Inter unveil Champions League squad: Inzaghi’s choices revealed
Inter Milan have officially submitted their squad list for the Champions League group stage to UEFA, with manager Simone Inzaghi making some surprising decisions. The most notable inclusions and exclusions have raised eyebrows among fans and pundits alike.
In an unexpected move, Inzaghi has left out both Joaquin Correa and Tomas Palacios, two Argentine players who were thought to be competing for the final spot. Instead, the manager has opted to include Canadian winger Tajon Buchanan, despite his current injury status. Buchanan, who is recovering from a severe tibia injury sustained during the Copa America, is expected to be sidelined until November. However, his inclusion suggests that his return might be sooner than initially anticipated, potentially allowing him to participate in the last four matches of the competition.
The decision to exclude Correa is particularly surprising, given Inzaghi’s previous statements about the need for five attackers across all competitions. With this choice, Inter will only have four strikers available for their Champions League campaign: Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Mehdi Taremi, and Marko Arnautovic.
Another notable omission is the young central defender who arrived on the last day of the transfer window as a backup for Bastoni. Despite a prolonged negotiation process, the 20-year-old has not made the cut for the European squad.
