Inter ultras: ‘Lukaku not welcome here, but no racism’

October 29, 2023

Inter ultras made clear that Roma striker Romelu Lukaku ‘is no longer welcome’ at San Siro but reiterated the call to avoid any racist incidents.

The Nerazzurri were negotiating a new deal with Chelsea for the Belgian striker in the summer transfer window but gave up once they learnt that he’d secretly been in talks with rivals Juventus.

The Old Lady ultimately couldn’t afford to sign Lukaku in the summer and he ended up joining Jose Mourinho’s Roma on a dry loan deal. He’s started life in the Italian capital well, scoring eight goals in his first 10 games for the club across Serie A and the Europa League.

As highlighted by FcInterNews, A group of Inter ultras released a statement ahead of the clash with Roma, discussing the protest against Lukaku and desire to avoid any racist incidents.

“Tomorrow let’s not fall into banality and stupidity. Let’s leave racism outside the stadium, which is not a thing that belongs to us.

“Tomorrow we must support our colours and encourage the team stronger than ever to achieve victory.

“Let’s make ourselves understand that Milan is no longer his city and that he is no longer welcome here.”

Inter ultras had planned to hand out 30,000 whistles ahead of the game to use against Lukaku, but security authorities banned the protest.
