Inter Milan Ready To Swoop If Ex PSG Star Leaves Juventus On Free Transfer

May 30, 2024

Inter Milan would be ready to swoop if midfielder Adrien Rabiot leaves Juventus on a free transfer rather than extending his contract.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908. The broadcaster report that it is still far from certain that Rabiot will sign a new deal with the Bianconeri.

At the moment, Rabiot is out of contract with Juventus at the end of next month.

The 29-year-old signed his current deal with the Turin giants last summer. It was only a one-season extension to a deal that had been set to expire at the end of last June.

Therefore, as things stand Rabiot’s contract would run out at the end of June.

Juventus are hoping to extend the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder’s contract.

Rabiot has been an important player to the Bianconeri project under Max Allegri over the last three seasons. And he could remain such under incoming coach Thiago Motta.

However, the talks have yet to lead to an agreement.

And according to Mediaset, there is no guarantee that Rabiot will decide to sign an agreement.

In any event, Mediaset anticipate, Rabiot’s future shouldn’t be a mystery for much longer.

The next couple of weeks will be decisive as the Frenchman nears the end of his deal.

And if the Frenchman does decide to leave, Mediaset report that Inter CEO Beppe Marotta would be one of the most interested parties.

Inter’s propensity for big name free transfer signings is hardly a secret. Veteran executive Marotta has earned a reputation for spotting such opportunities.

Inter have signed all of Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andre Onana, and Marcus Thuram via this route.

And Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski will be joining Inter on free transfers this summer.

Calhanoglu joined Inter from city rivals AC Milan. Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan and Zielinski decided to make the switch from Roma and Napoli.

Mediaset report that Marotta is now eyeing up yet another major transfer coup from a direct rival.
