Inter Milan Eyeing Up A Move For Red Bull Salzburg & Ivory Coast Striker

August 7, 2024

Inter MIlan are thinking about reigniting their interest in Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Konate this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Ivorian would cost around €25 million.

This summer, Inter are still considering making one more big attacking signing.

The Nerazzurri currently have four senior strikers in their squad. Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, and Marko Arnautovic are joined by new signing Mehdi Taremi.

However, there is a sense that that may not be enough in terms of depth.

Last season, Inter did look stretched thin at times in attack when one or two of the forwards in their squad were out with injury.

At the moment, both Arnautovic and Taremi are on the sidelines.

This underlines the risks that Inter face in terms of squad depth.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri could look to bring in one more striker before the transfer window shuts, in order to ensure ample depth.

Inter Milan Consider Reigniting Interest In Karim Konate

According to the Gazzetta, one player on Inter’s radar as an attacking signing would be 20-year-old Salzburg striker Konate.

Inter have been tracking Konate for some time.

The Nerazzurri also got a chance to see the Ivory Coast international up close last season. They faced Salzburg in the group stage of the Champions League.

And Konate remains a possible option for Inter in attack.

The Ivorian would not come cheap. The Gazzetta report that Salzburg would demand €25 million to sell him.

However, reports the Gazzetta, if Inter can bring in some money from sales over the next few weeks they could be ready to move.

Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital are keen to invest in more young players. Therefore they could be more willing to authorize spending on a player like Konate.

The big concern with Konate, the Gazzetta notes, concerns fitness.
