Iñaki Peña upset at being dropped, will fight for place as contract renewal looms

The goalkeeper wants to continue being Barcelona’s starter
FC Barcelona’s Iñaki Peña feels “hurt” after being dropped in favor of Wojciech Szczęsny, but is confident he can reverse the situation, according to reports in Catalonia.
Peña reportedly isn’t quite sure why he lost the starting job, as he has not made any big mistakes. Meanwhile, the Polish goalkeeper has endured some shaky moments, including some miscommunications with defenders and a red card.
The Spanish goalkeeper is said to have a cordial relationship with “Tek,” and to understand that perhaps it’s a “matter of taste” as to why Hansi Flick has apparently given Szczęsny the nod. Peña is said to be willing to fight for his spot and show the German coach why he should get the starting gloves back.
The long-term picture is that Peña’s contract is set to expire next year. It’s understood that contract talks where set to begin soon, but they will do so with a different context now that he isn’t the starter anymore.
