Harry Wilson close to free transfer as Liverpool faces double setback
Harry Wilson is set to leave Fulham when his contract expires in July, and the Wales winger is closing in on a move to Leeds after attracting interest from Aston Villa and several other Premier League clubs
Harry Wilson is edging closer to a switch to Leeds, despite having attracted attention from Aston Villa and a number of other Premier League sides.
The news is a blow for Liverpool, as the Reds are set to miss out on the chance to sign one of the Premier League’s most productive wingers on a free transfer. Liverpool is also thought to have included a sell-on clause when selling Wilson to Fulham four years ago.
With the Welshman leaving Craven Cottage on a free transfer, Liverpool will not benefit from that sell-on clause. He will depart Fulham when his contract runs out in July.
Wilson is widely expected to join Leeds following encouraging talks with his representatives.
Leeds came agonizingly close to securing Wilson’s signature last summer, only for the deal to collapse at the final hurdle.
Nevertheless, the Elland Road club is now well-positioned to get a deal over the line.
Wilson to Villa links
Villa boss Unai Emery has previously brought in free agents during his tenure at the West Midlands club, among them Youri Tielemans and Victor Lindelof.
But Wilson appears to be one target he is willing to let slip on this occasion.
