Guirassy trails Kane in Bundesliga Golden Boot Race
Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane has taken an early lead in the race for the Bundesliga’s Golden Boot, leaving Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy playing catch up.
The Englishman is on fire this season and has taken a commanding lead at the top of the goal-scorers standings with 12 goals in seven league appearances.
He is trailed by teammate Luis Díaz and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Can Uzun on five goals. Guirassy has bagged four goals in six league appearances and is tied with six other players on the goal-scorers’ list.
Guirassy, who finished 21st in Ballon d’Or voting this year, ended as joint top-scorer in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, tied with Barcelona’s Raphinha on 13 goals. He lost out on last year’s title of top-scorer in the German top flight to Kane, finishing five goals behind the England striker on a tally of 21.
In his first season for Dortmund, he recorded 43 goal involvements in 45 games.
The Guinea international played in his nation’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September but did not play in their final two qualifiers earlier this month. His country finished fourth in group G of the African qualifiers and missed out on a spot at the tournament next year.
With the season not yet halfway through, the 29-year-old will be eager to close the gap on the reigning Bundesliga Golden Boot winner.
