Gareth Bale confirms jaw-dropping bid to buy boyhood club and ‘get something done’
Gareth Bale has confirmed he is leading a consortium that is interested in buying Cardiff City, and the Wales legend has explained why he is keen on the deal
Gareth Bale has dropped a bombshell by announcing he’s leading a group that wants to buy Cardiff City, with the aim of catapulting the club back into the Premier League.
The Welsh football icon broke his silence on his intentions to take over the Bluebirds while walking down the red carpet at the premiere of ‘F1 The Movie’.
Wales Online reported last week that Bale’s group had made an offer to Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, which was rejected. Following this, speculation has been rife that Bale’s public association with the bid could signal that another attempt is in the pipeline.
Bale, who hung up his boots earlier this year after a swansong with LAFC, a club he picked over a potential move to Cardiff, is adamant that his consortium hasn’t thrown in the towel on clinching a deal. “We are interested in getting Cardiff,” Bale said on the red carpet.
