FORMER PSV AND JUVENTUS ‘WONDERKID’ JOINS SLAVIA PRAGUE FOLLOWING PERIOD WITHOUT A CLUB

December 5, 2023

Former PSV Eindhoven, Ajax and Juventus midfielder Mohamed Ihattaren has joined Slavia Prague. The 21-year-old has signed until the end of the season, with the option to extend for three more years with the seven-time Czech champions.

Ihattaren kicked off his career with PSV, where he worked his way up the ranks in the youth academy before making 74 appearances for the first team. The talented attacker went on to excel in Eindhoven, which attracted interest from several top European sides. In July 2021, Ihattaren was axed from the squad at PSV as he missed training due to illness. It turned out that he was actually at Nice’s training ground with agent Mino Raiola.

Juventus came calling for the former Dutch youth international, where he signed a four-year contract in 2021. However, Mohamed Ihattaren didn’t play a single minute of first-team football in Turin. The player was quickly loaned to Sampdoria, where he struggled to adapt and allegedly, the club quickly became frustrated with his attitude and behaviour. A loan move to Ajax also didn’t work out for the youngster, and in 2023 Juventus let him go.

Last August Ihattaren signed a four-year deal with Turkish side Samsunspor. However, two days after reportedly signing, the club walked away from the deal due to unacceptable demands from the player. Now, he’s been given another chance. This time he’ll play in the Czech Republic for Slavia Prague, who occupy second place in the league and are still going incredibly strong in the Europa League.
