Former Nottingham Forest man told transfer ‘is done’ after plea

June 1, 2023

Former Nottingham Forest loanee Loic Bade looks set to complete a permanent transfer to Europa League champions Sevilla after the Spanish club’s director Monchi confirmed ‘it’s done’.

Bade spent the first half of the season just gone on loan with Forest from French side Rennes. The centre-back was a deadline day arrival at the City Ground as they looked to add to their options for the Premier League in the final hours of the summer window.

However, his short stint at the City Ground didn’t go to plan. He failed to make a single appearance for the club and was only named in the Premier League matchday squad on one occasion – for the 1-0 defeat against Wolves back in October.

The absence of game time led to the defender returning to his parent club when the January transfer window opened. He then quickly joined Spanish side Sevilla on loan, and enjoyed more success with the club.

Bade played 18 times for Sevilla in La Liga and helped the club to the Europa League final where they took on Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma on Wednesday night. He played the full 120 minutes of the game which ended in a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Sevilla eventually won the tie on a penalty shootout, lifting the trophy for the fifth time in nine years. The victory means that they will play in the Champions League again next season, and it seems that Bade is keen to be a part of that.

In a video shared on social media, the defender films himself during the celebrations and asks the club’s director Monchi: “Please, please…sign me.” Monchi then replies with: “It’s already done, we have already signed you,” to which Bade responds with a cheer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Sevilla have a €12 million option to buy included in the loan deal signed in January. It seems that the club will now trigger that option, meaning that Bade will be playing Champions League football next season.
