Fonseca, Bonera and the Ibra factor – Milan’s plan to help Camarda explode

July 8, 2024

AC Milan’s preseason begins today, and there is a lot of curiosity regarding Francesco Camarda and what his role might be in 2024-25 onwards.

Camarda’s first professional contract came into effect on July 1st despite the signature having been inked on June 7th. The draft of the press release will be written during this week with the related official press release eagerly awaited by the fans.

Francesco is already one of the fans’ favourites as they chanted his name during his Serie A debut against Fiorentina, which was record-breaking. It has already been a positive summer too, given he won the U17 European Championship with Italy and was Player of the Tournament.

Camarda is not a talent like the others and as such he has received important reassurances from Milan on the project built for his growth. The club know they have a potential champion in their hands but they want to take things one step at a time, without rushing.

The 16-year-old will be the starting striker in Daniele Bonera’s Milan Futuro side but during the week he will train under the orders of Paulo Fonseca whenever the Portuguese coach deems it appropriate.

The new project on the Under 23 will serve precisely to give this opportunity to talents like Camarda: to gain experience no longer in the Primavera but in Serie C, a league with a different intensity and with adult opponents.

Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken Camarda under his wing. He wants to know everything about him: how he trains, what he does off the pitch, how his studies are going. Zlatan knows that he is still a child with extraordinary skills, he will be the first to give him advice and help him in difficult moments.

Camarda could also influence the striker signing that the Rossoneri make, as they may go for someone like Alvaro Morata to lead the line, something more short-medium term and thus ready to step aside when Francesco is ready.
