FC Bayern Campus Round Up: Adin Ličina’s return to form, victories and returns from injury make for a successful weekend
Welcome to the FC Bayern Campus Round Up, where the matches of Bayern Munich’s U-19 and U-23 squads are recapped, line ups are provided and highlights to each match are hyperlinked on top of their respective score lines. The U-17’s are currently taking their winter break, so there is no U-17 match to recap this weekend. Unfortunately, none of these matches can be viewed in full length without an FCBayernTV subscription. Without further ado, here is the round up:
Viktoria Aschaffenburg 0-2 Bayern II
Bayern lineup (with subs): Schmitt – Brückner, Breitkreuz, Dettoni, Rüger- Denk, Becker (46. Dell’Erba), Kern (56. Della Rovere) – Ličina (80. Unsöld), Kusi-Asare (80. Irankunda), Jensen (87. Wagner)
Goals: 0:1 Ličina (49.), 0:2 Breitkreuz (90.)
Unused subs: Ballis – Marušić, Demircan
This was a deceptively difficult game. For the first time since August, Bayern II were able to include star forwards Jonathan Asp Jensen, Jonah Kusi-Asare and Adin Ličina in the same starting lineup, due to their seasons being ravaged by injury. And these three were very important to the match, as, outside of the front three’s chemistry, little else was right in the first half. The team could not play through the tough press of Aschaffenburg, lost nearly every duel and second ball to the home side and conceded most of the ball. Any joy Bayern got came from bypassing the midfield by playing the ball long into the attack, where the aforementioned trio of attackers exuded their brilliance and created some phenomenal early opportunities.
