EVERTON ACE HAILS ‘GREAT PLAYER’ AS LIVERPOOL OPEN TALKS TO SIGN HIM

June 7, 2023

Everton striker Neal Maupay has suggested that Khephren Thuram could soon become his neighbour amid links to Liverpool.

Khephren Thuram is on Liverpool’s radar and Everton striker Neal Maupay appears to be a big fan.

Maupay has been speaking to GymTonic as part of Nice-Matin over in France and has been speaking about Nice.

Maupay came up through the Nice ranks having joined the club way back in 2007.

The striker emerged into the Nice second team before making 53 first-team appearances, scoring nine goals.

Maupay ended up leaving Nice but the Everton striker still pays close attention to his former club and their fortunes.

From manager Didier Digard to the future of defender Jean-Clair Todibo and even a possible return for Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, Maupay discussed a number of topics.

Unsurprisingly, one of them was the future of Nice midfielder and Liverpool target Khephren Thuram.

Thuram is being heavily linked with a move to Merseyside this summer.

Yet rather than joining Maupay at Everton, he could become a Liverpool player in a big-money move.

90Min reported last week that Liverpool have opened talks to try and sign Thuram, making contact with his representatives.

Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna adds that Liverpool do want Thuram but will need an ‘explosive’ bid to tempt Nice into selling.

The son of French legend Lilian Thuram, Khephren is an all-action midfielder who has enjoyed a superb season in Ligue 1.

Liverpool are revamping their midfield and seem keen to land him – but whether that move comes off is unclear.

Maupay has been quoted by Nice-Matin as saying that Thuram is a ‘great player’ and suggested that they could even become neighbours in the near future.

“He’s a great player. We could be neighbours soon,” said Maupay – although his own future at Everton is a little unclear.

That may spark Liverpool fans into a wave of excitement, even if the Frenchman is hardly a top transfer insider.
