Erik ten Hag tears into ‘complacent’ Man Utd players after Europa League setback

September 26, 2024

Erik ten Hag was unimpressed with his side’s performance in the Europa League at Old Trafford after Manchester United let their lead slip against the Dutch manager’s former team, FC Twente

Erik ten Hag tore into his sloppy Manchester United stars and branded them “complacent” for throwing away victory at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils gave up a 1-0 lead in their opening Europa League clash of the season against FC Twente. Sam Lammers cancelled out Christian Eriksen’s opening effort as United were unable to find their way past their opponents a second time.

Ten Hag was particularly frustrated with his team’s second half performance. The Dutchman was unimpressed with the manner of Twente’s equalising strike.

Addressing United’s poor attitude against his former club, Ten Hag said: “We are very ambitious and when you have ambition you have to perform and prove the point.
