Early Tavernier strike enough to beat 10 men Wolves in home Opener

The Cherries carried on their impressive form in home openers, beating a ten-man Wolves team 1-0 at the Vitality, with the south coast side last losing their first home game back in 2017.
With Dean Court rocking, the host started fast with Andoni Iraola’s side already causing problems for the visitors with new signing Adrian Truffert’s cross finding Welshman David Brooks, who fired over. A long ball from goalkeeper Jose Sa then created the first chance for the visitors with Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi through on goal; however, his half volley went over the top.
The Cherries then made the breakthrough with Tyler Adams winning the ball back high before passing to inform winger Antione Semenyo, whose intricate ball found Marcus Tavernier, whose deflected effort hit the crossbar and trickled in, giving the Cherries the perfect start with only four minutes on the clock.
That goal was Tavernier’s first goal since netting in the 2-2 draw at Tottenham in April. Bournemouth then should have doubled their lead when Brooks’ excellent cross found the boot of Semenyo, whose effort hit the bar from less than 5 yards out.
New signing Djordje Petrovic was then forced into action for the first time with Ki-Jana Hoever’s cross finding the dangerous Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose header was well saved by the Serbian just before the break.
