Deco could play a key role in signing 21-year-old Barcelona right-back target
Upon the official departure of sporting director, Mateu Alemany, Former Barcelona midfielder Deco is being regarded as the heir to his throne and leader of some of Catalan’s most important financial decisions. The Portuguese is set to fill in some big shoes as his close ties to the Blaugranes continue to grow stronger.
FC Barcelona are desperate to make amends to their financial situation. One of the keys to obtaining an easier route to the summer transfer window is having La Liga approve of the club’s proposed financial viability plan. In order to make a surplus which will in turn lead to new signings, departures are quintessential.
According to SPORT, Deco has a crucial role to play in tying all loose ends. The ex-Barcelona player is the agent of Raphinha and will be looking to secure a lucrative offer for the Brazilian.
Raphinha is said to be on his way out for acceptable offers of around €80 million and is reported to already be inquired by Newcastle. Once his exit materializes, the club can further plan their market strategy.
Furthermore, Deco is reportedly also playing a big hand in scouting other positions for the club, making preemptive measures as a sporting director. On his shortlist is Vanderson. The right-back would help reinforce a crucial spot in the XI, where depth is needed and options are limited.
Deco is keen on obtaining the player, despite interest from other clubs. However, Barcelona may have a significantly easier path to the player’s recruitment due to Deco’s links and insistence.
Monaco has reportedly agreed to let the player leave. If the price is right, Vanderson will be accepted as a viable signing over other alternatives like Foyth and Cancelo.
