David Sullivan stance on Jose Mourinho appointment emerges at West Ham United

October 27, 2023

The online source has reported that the Portuguese boss will not be considered for the position while David Sullivan is in place within the boardroom.

There are currently doubts surrounding the long-term future of David Moyes beyond this season at the London Stadium, with his contract expiring in the summer.

A source told Claret and Hugh that Mourinho has not performed well in his last two roles, and therefore doubts emerge immediately regarding any position at the club.

Pressure is starting to pile on current Moyes after his side lost 4-1 to Aston Villa on Sunday (22 October), meaning they have won just one out of their last five Premier League games.

Should he lose his job in the coming months, Mourinho will be out of the running to replace him.

Faith.

Despite a bad run of form and Moyes’ position under consideration, West Ham are said to be happy with his leadership, as things stand at the London Stadium [Paul Brown].

Moyes’ position certainly wouldn’t have been under threat at the start of September after West Ham had picked up 10 points from their first 12 available in 2023/24 and three months earlier had won the Europa Conference League – a trophy Mourinho won in charge of Roma in 2022.

Pressure was certainly mounting on Mourinho in the Italian capital a few weeks ago. Both he and Roma made their worst-ever starts to a season with just five points after their first six Serie A games following a 4-1 defeat at Genoa.

Roma have responded by winning their last four in all competitions, so for now, Mourinho’s job is safe for now.

Recent reports have linked him with the Real Madrid at the end of the season when his contract is up at Roma and Carlo Ancelotti moves on to manage Brazil.

He has also been potentially tipped to manage in Saudi Arabia. Such moves would certainly be a lot more likely than replacing Moyes at the London Stadium in the near future.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are now frustrated with a £10m player as a behind-the-scenes revelation has emerged from the London Stadium.
