Daniel Farke sends warning to his Leeds United side with Champions League comparison made
Daniel Farke has issued a warning to his Leeds United side after they continued their Premier League revival with an important win against Crystal Palace.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the hero for Leeds once again as his two goals put his side in a dominant position in the first half of their victory.
The victory saw Leeds move up to 19 points from 17 games, which is ahead of the target run rate of a point per game which Daniel Farke believes will be enough to keep his side in the Premier League.
Now, after Leeds completed a demolition job on Oliver Glasner’s Palace side, Farke has urged his side to be “greedy” as they look to put more daylight between themselves and the bottom three.
Daniel Farke challenges Leeds United to be ‘greedy’ in relegation battle
Farke insisted he was not willing to relax despite Leeds’ recent run of good form.
While admitting that eight points from four games is Champions League form, Farke asserted that his side still needs a lot more than 19 points to guarantee their Premier League status.
The Leeds boss said: “It’s important when you have such a period, and you know that you ride this momentum and use it also to win this many points.
“Because there will also perhaps even a bit more tricky periods and for that, yes, great. Out of the last four games, to win eight points is more, it’s like a Champions League average, so long may it continue.
“But it’s important that we keep going right now and take this confidence and the self-belief, but also stay greedy and don’t give 1% less, and then don’t do one step less, so we have to keep going.”
