Crystal Palace Agree Four-Year Deal With ‘Elite’ Forward in £28m Loan-to-Buy Deal

January 30, 2026

Crystal Palace have agreed a four-year deal with Aston Villa striker Evann Guessand, who will sign on loan with an obligation to buy of £28m, according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett.

Guessand has struggled to make an impact since making the move to Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, and with Tammy Abraham brought to Villa Park, he could already be heading through the exit door. Competing with the likes of Ollie Watkins was never going to be easy for him, and it’s going to be even more difficult with Abraham’s arrival.

Palace are one of many Premier League sides in the market for a striker in the January window, with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s future uncertain. The Eagles have already brought Brennan Johnson to the club this month, but they’ve also lost Marc Guehi to Manchester City.

According to journalist Dorsett, Palace have agreed a four-year deal with Guessand, who will sign from Aston Villa on a loan with an obligation to buy, if certain conditions are met. If the deal becomes permanent, Palace will pay a fee of £28m.

Described as ‘elite’, Guessand hasn’t hit the heights expected of him since making the move to Villa at the beginning of the season. A fresh move could be what he needs to fulfil his potential, but it’s certainly a risky signing for Oliver Glasner’s side, considering he’s struggled to adapt to Premier League football so far.
