Confirmed: After Zadok Yohanna, another highly-talented Nigerian teenager joins Brighton
With a statement on their official website, Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed the signing of Valentin Joseph from Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
The 18-year-old is the second highly-talented Nigerian teenager signed by the Seagulls this summer, following in the footsteps of Zadok Yohanna, who completed a move to the American Express Stadium for an Allsvenskan-record fee of €28 million.
While Zadok has been signed for the first team, Brighton have confirmed that Joseph will begin his Seagulls career with the club’s U21 side. CorporateTraining
The prolific striker, who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, mutually terminated his contract with Blackburn Rovers, paving the way for his move to Brighton.
Nine of those goals came in the FA Youth Cup, making him the competition’s top scorer as Blackburn Rovers reached the semifinals.
Joseph has signed a three-year contract, keeping him at Brighton until the end of the 2028–29 season.
He already has U21 experience, having registered seven goal involvements in 18 appearances across the Premier League 2, Premier League Cup and National League Cup during his final season at Blackburn Rovers.
