Como vs. Juventus match preview: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch the Serie A

Can Juventus actually make it two league wins in a row?
Let’s go back to Aug. 19, 2024.
Juventus, with their new manager in toe, opened up the 2024-25 season with a bang, beating one of Serie A’s newest clubs, Como, at the Allianz Stadium. It was the first competitive fixture for this new-look Juve side with so much change taking place over the summer — and with even more players coming and going before the transfer window came to a close.
That was 5 1⁄2 months ago when the vibes were good — maybe even considered “very good” after a win like the Bianconeri put forward against Como.
The vibes as we sit here in February are very much not like what they were during the opening weekend of the new season and the Motta era. But, as Juve are trying to at least attempt to get the vibes going in a positive direction again, guess who’s back on the schedule?
Yep, it’s Cesc Fabregas and Como.
This time it’s Juventus making the trip to one of the more picturesque stadiums in all of Italy, the kind of location that you wish you could be totally happy about Thiago Motta’s squad making the trip to so that you can enjoy the views while taking on a relegation battler. As much as Como have spent during the two transfer windows since returning to Serie A, they are still a club that is hanging out around the same spot that Juventus’ last opponent were at. Empoli were 16th when they took the field at the Allianz this past weekend, and team that is right above them in the standings entering Matchday 24 is the one that Juventus will be facing Friday night.
That means, even with all of the talent that Fabregas has tried to bring in to turn his squad’s fortunes for the better, they’re still very much in the relegation conversation, sitting just a couple of points above the drop zone.
But here’s the “funny” thing about this little game of ours: Juventus and Como have the same amount of wins in the new year. That’s not what you would expect from a team that is competing for a place in the top four when being compared to a team sitting just outside the relegation zone.
The catch is that ever since Juventus beat Como to open the 2024-25 season and then Hellas Verona by the same 3-0 scoreline, the amount of times Motta’s squad have won back-to-back games since then has been stuck on only one for months now.
Juve got the front end of the potential back-to-back wins done with last weekend’s comeback win over Empoli, preventing so many Mattia De Sciglio one-liners to take over the discourse for more than just a day or two. Was the performance against Empoli anything special after MDS was left alone in the Juve box to score a couple of minutes after kickoff? On the whole, probably not. But it was a win — and that’s something that we definitely haven’t seen this Juventus team do a lot of thanks to all those stupid draws.
So now we see if they can actually win back-to-back games for just the third time this season or continue with this trend of taking a potential step forward and then another couple of steps back. Como obviously aren’t your typical relegation battler because you rarely see clubs in that kind of position spending €100 million in one season to try and upgrade their roster. But they’ve also won just three times in Serie A since the start of October — which, at this point, is a pretty extended run of poor results.
Let’s just hope that Juventus can add to it against a team that, despite all of their struggles, have collected 15 of their 22 points on the season on their home turf. Let’s just not go ahead and talk about what Juve did the last time they played away from home, OK? That just doesn’t feel like a time that any of us would like to remember.
