Chelsea transfer news: Blues want to re-sign ‘amazing’ Europa League winger

March 24, 2023

Chelsea are interested in signing Juventus attacker Samuel Iling-Junior, according to reports.

Samuel Iling-Junior, who spent a number of years in Chelsea’s academy, has already had one spell at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are now eyeing a potential reunion, though.

90min claims that Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United are all interested in moves to sign Iling-Junior this summer.

It is understood that German heavyweights Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are keen admirers, too.

The reports explains that Juventus’ financial issues means a host of teams are now eyeing their 19-year-old attacker.

Saul Isaksson-Hurst, who privately trains a host of football stars through his My Football Coach business, described Iling-Junior to The Evening Standard as someone with “amazing quality technique”.

The Juventus youngster is an exciting left-winger with bags of pace and trickery.

He’s made 11 first-team appearances so far this season across all competitions, including a couple during Juventus’ Europa League campaign. Incidentally, the Italians face Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Iling-Junior is an England Under-20 international as well, starring against Germany yesterday. The forward scored a goal in each half to give the Young Lions a 2-0 victory.

The Chelsea academy helped develop yet another exciting talent, this time in Iling-Junior.

He’s now playing senior football and is doing well overseas with Juventus, but is the London-born teenager ready to return to England already?

It’s quite the statement that so many top teams are monitoring him, but we would be surprised if the former Cobham youngster wants a return to Chelsea.

Graham Potter’s squad is so full right now at Stamford Bridge, which is why a route into their first team looks a tough task for upcoming talents.
