Cardinale at Milanello for discussions with Amorim and the team – the issues he will tackle

August 21, 2026

This summer, AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has been infinitely more present than he has been in recent years and he will be back at Milanello shortly.

Before this year, there had been regular complaints about the lack of Cardinale’s presence around Milan. Whether it was at the club’s headquarters, the training ground or even at San Siro, the American was hardly seen.

After the restructuring of his vendor loan to buy the club, though, he has been much more prominent. Meetings and visits have been regular and he has attended a few Serie A games in 2026.

So, seeing him around is not uncommon and he will return to Milano shortly, with the season about to kick off.

A chat with Rafa
As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, as seen below, the American wants to speak to the team and Ruben Amorim to support them or let them know their fate.

Starting with the latter, his biggest meeting will perhaps be with Rafael Leao, who could be added to the list of players excluded after chats with the owner. Indeed, the last meeting saw Fikayo Tomori and several others banished and Leao could follow.

Cardinale wants to ‘clarify the Portuguese’s fate’. It is no secret that he can leave the Rossoneri this summer and Galatasaray have been interested, but they have not offered the right fee (nor has anyone else, for that matter).

Perhaps the American will speed up the process in this meeting; who knows.

Aside from that meeting, the owner also wants to have talks with other individuals to gauge an idea of the team’s mood. He wants to ‘convey enthusiasm and support’ ahead of the opener this weekend.

Then, a talk with Amorim will clarify any final targets for the mercato, given there are still missing pieces…

There is plenty on the agenda, but Cardinale is prepared to tackle it.
