Brendan Rodgers makes Celtic transfer admission after Lazio defeat

November 29, 2023

Celtic lost 2-0 against Lazio in the Champions League on Tuesday night (28 November) in Rome and find themselves at the bottom of their group.

After the match, Brendan Rodgers said that he will look to address the gulf in quality in the upcoming transfer windows.

Celtic managed only one draw from their five games so far, and have suffered humiliating defeats away from home in European games.

While the Bhoys are still miles ahead of other rivals in Scotland, their poor performances in Europe over a long period of time are a big concern.

“It’s the overall quality. We need to have our very best players available,” said Rodgers, as quoted by Evening Times.

“What makes the difference is that bit of experience and genuine quality. That’s something we can hopefully resolve over the next couple of windows.

“This group has gained more experience and shown they can compete in some games – but we need to add quality. That’s the glaring thing that stands out.”

Spot on
In order to compete with big teams in Europe, it is important to have a strong team. Celtic have quality players on their ranks but they need more top-class players to compete against big boys in Europe.

The Hoops did put up a good fight against Lazio. They managed to keep their quiet for the major part of the game, but two late goals from Ciro Immobile made the difference in the end.

This has been a frustrating campaign for the Bhoys. In some games, they played really well, but a lack of discipline and individual errors crept in.

It could be an interesting January window for the Bhoys and fans can expect some good players coming in at Parkhead.
