Beyer and Berge win the day at Luton

October 7, 2023

Burnley recorded a first league win of the season at Luton four days ago and it was a game that saw two players stand out in the man of the match vote and the player ratings.

Central defender Jordan Beyer was the winner for the man of the match, polling 31% of the vote and that was just ahead of midfielder Sander Berge who won a 29% share. Berge was outstanding in midfield in the first half and fellow midfielder Josh Cullen was another in top form and he came third with 18% while fourth place went the way of Charlie Taylor who won 10% of the vote.

Three of those players were in the top four of the player ratings with the top two places reversed. Berge was the winner this time with a rating of 7.90 out of ten, followed by Beyer who scored 7.77. Cullen was again third with a rating of 7.72 and in fourth place was returning striker Lyle Foster who had a rating of 7.36 in a game that saw him score our opener, his third Premier League goal of the season.

That result has seen both Berge and Beyer win eight points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with Cullen winning four points and both Foster and Taylor pick up one point each. Foster remains top with Luca Koleosho second, but Beyer and Berge are now third and fourth respectively with Beyer now just two points behind Koleosho.

The next vote will be underway later today while below is the full Luton result and the current player of the year table.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has reiterated that he’s happy with his squad and has no regrets over not strengthening further in the January transfer window.
