BAYERN MUNICH WILL NOT ACTIVATE THE PURCHASE OPTION IN JOÃO CANCELO’S LOAN
Kicker reports that Bayern Munich will not activate the buy option that is currently in João Cancelo’s loan agreement with Manchester City.
Bayern are not willing to pay the €70m for Cancelo and at the current moment, they will not even negotiate a reduced fee for the 28-year-old. Bayern are aware of Cancelo’s character where he experiences mood swings which is affected due to his lack of playing time.
Since moving to Bayern in the winter, Cancelo has only played 10 times for Bayern and most of his appearances as of late have come off the bench. Against Borussia Dortmund, the 28-year-old only made a brief 11-minute cameo and in the game before the international break, he was brought off at half-time in Bayern’s 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
His current contract at City expires in 2027 but it is now at two big clubs that he has shown a poor attitude when not playing which could easily put off potential suitors for the Portuguese international.
