Bayern Munich brass happy for Joshua Kimmich to take his time with contract renewal

Deliberation is prudence. A good quality in a star player.
Joshua Kimmich is within the last six months of his contract at Bayern Munich, and weighing his options — including a move abroad — carefully before putting pen to paper.
For Bayern executive board member for sport, that is a good sign, as it speaks well of the player’s mindset.
“If Joshua Kimmich didn’t ask how things are going with us and what the plans are, then you wouldn’t want the player. You want a player who identifies with this club,” Eberl stated in recent comments captured by @iMiaSanMia.
Eberl commented on timeline, too — suggesting he would like to see a decision in “quieter” periods after Bayern’s Champions League fortunes have been secured. Of course, this was before Bayern’s shocking 3-0 defeat away at Feyenoord…a result that means Bayern will most likely have to go through an additional play-off before reaching the Knockout Stages proper.
Kimmich, for his part, was not a happy camper after the defeat in Rotterdam, slamming the performance in no uncertain terms and quipping, “We are NOT a top team.” So a little more time for Bayern to change the script again may not be a bad thing.
And, contrary to suggestions by former CEO Oliver Kahn, Bayern is not likely to rush their man.
“I don’t think much of ultimatums,” Eberl said, alluding to Kahn’s advice for the club. “That’s not a sign of strength either.”
